• Coming up on the 25th anniversary of 9-11, we are starting to hear more about Do Not Forget.    It’s getting more important as no one under 30 has any memory of that day.   We should remember those that were in the towers and planes, the first responders, and all of us who experienced the terrible day.  We need to work together as Americans to be aware and ready.  We need to invest in a strong military, that have divisions that take new technologies to the next level.   We need the smartest commanders, not just the ones that look best in a uniform or have the highest testosterone.

We cannot forget who our friends are and help keep the US safe- where information must come worldwide and combined strength wards off those wanting to do us harm.  We should not forget on 9-11 Canada welcomed over 225 planes as we closed our airspace.  Including Gander Newfoundland that welcomed 38 planes and over 7000 people. Our Canadian friends stepped up to feed and welcome in their stranded guests.  The Royal Canadian Air Force stepped in immediately to help us get through the days and weeks ahead.   The bi-national NORAD is the eyes and ears of North America defense, then and now the most important partnership for the US.    NATO, for the first time declared Article 5 in which all members pledged to step up and help the US in whatever was needed.   At the time no one knew what had happened and what was next.   From October to May NATO AWAC radar surveillance aircraft, and 800 NATO personnel patrolled US skies.    80,000 Canadians gathered at Parliament Hill for a National Day of Mourning, to show support for their US neighbors.

9-11 was orchestrated by Saudi’s. And now we are going to make Saudi Arabia nuclear, because it’s a smart business move?   And we vilify Canada and our NATO allies.  Do Not Forget

  • We are home from camping!   We went to High Cliff State Park on Sept 17 and came home on Saturday.   We were with Noel and Jo Ann, and had some time with Tiff and Steve and Al Miller.  It was a very enjoyable time,  even though we had the first rains in a month!   But…

Ok,  I think I figured this out!   The web page editing has changed a lot from what it used to be,  and my nephew hosts the site but doesn’t give me instructions!    If you go to the album page I have added photos from our trip.    I have a number of photos of landscapes and…

  • We arrived home this afternoon from Albuquerque.   We had a very nice trip and the chance to spend time together for Marie and John’s 40th anniversary and John’s birthday.  The weather was wonderful!   Back to what summer should be like (unlike Wisconsin) and yet the desert nights cool down.    We were on the go a…

  • It feels like fall anyway!    Strong north winds and temperatures in the 50’s.   It still feels good to get to the weekend.   We had our neighborhood picnic today, well we ended up inside.  But it was still nice to get a chance to sit down with friends and catch up,  and eat too much! It…

  • A good weekend coming to an end.   Last week Wednesday we had the homebrew club picnic here.  Had a little rain but just light,  still got some boat rides in courtesy of Noel, and everyone seemed to have a good time.    Thursday Night Noel and I attended a TimberRattler baseball game in Appleton and had…

  • Almost through the week.   Weather staying nice, maybe it is summer.  But with that I have been seeing the geese flocking up a lot the last week or so.  There were a couple of hundred out front this morning.  And the Sand Hill Cranes are always just 2 or 3 together, and saw about 15…

  • August has arrived,  which means our Door County vacation is over.   It was a wonderful time as usual, and way too short.   There were a number of friends I did not get to sit down and talk with, or golf with.   Of course I worked part of each week which did not help!  But I…
