• Coming up on the 25th anniversary of 9-11, we are starting to hear more about Do Not Forget.    It’s getting more important as no one under 30 has any memory of that day.   We should remember those that were in the towers and planes, the first responders, and all of us who experienced the terrible day.  We need to work together as Americans to be aware and ready.  We need to invest in a strong military, that have divisions that take new technologies to the next level.   We need the smartest commanders, not just the ones that look best in a uniform or have the highest testosterone.

We cannot forget who our friends are and help keep the US safe- where information must come worldwide and combined strength wards off those wanting to do us harm.  We should not forget on 9-11 Canada welcomed over 225 planes as we closed our airspace.  Including Gander Newfoundland that welcomed 38 planes and over 7000 people. Our Canadian friends stepped up to feed and welcome in their stranded guests.  The Royal Canadian Air Force stepped in immediately to help us get through the days and weeks ahead.   The bi-national NORAD is the eyes and ears of North America defense, then and now the most important partnership for the US.    NATO, for the first time declared Article 5 in which all members pledged to step up and help the US in whatever was needed.   At the time no one knew what had happened and what was next.   From October to May NATO AWAC radar surveillance aircraft, and 800 NATO personnel patrolled US skies.    80,000 Canadians gathered at Parliament Hill for a National Day of Mourning, to show support for their US neighbors.

9-11 was orchestrated by Saudi’s. And now we are going to make Saudi Arabia nuclear, because it’s a smart business move?   And we vilify Canada and our NATO allies.  Do Not Forget

  • 2023 October

September was mostly a good weather month in Wisconsin. We had some cold mornings to let us know it was fall, but overall we still had warm days. Golf continued to be fun although I decided the 40’s was too cold to get started. We were able to attend the revival of the Enders Octoberfest…

On Friday morning we left the Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg.  We had a wonderful breakfast in a room full of history and then set out.  Only 20 minutes away is my favorite Kentucky Bourbon distillery, Wilderness Trail.  I have a soft spot in my heart for them since we went there in their early days,…

  • We left Savannah and had a good ride up to Asheville.   It is construction season,   and as we made it north into North Carolina the construction increased.  But even with the delays we made it into our hotel in Asheville in good time.   We like the Aloft in Asheville because it is downtown and walks…

  • On the road again.   We have started our drive home.  We were the last of our seasonal neighbors to leave Snug Harbor but the time has come.  We had a great winter season.   The enjoyment of our friends and the almost daily sunshine makes winter pass by quickly.  But the summer weather is settling in…

  • Time does seem to fly by.    No big things happening here in Florida but we sure seem to be busy!   I have not golfed as much as I need to, my scores show it.   But I try to get out each week.  We have had our neighbor grill out each week, a nice night to…

  • Left Oshkosh on Sunday after enjoying Steve and Janet’s 50th wedding anniversary party.  It was great.   Weather report showed good chance of sleet and snow in the UP of Michigan so we decided to take the southern route.  We thought on Sunday it would be an ok day to drive through Chicago.   Yeah right.   Maps…
